FotMob is the essential mobile app for global football fans, delivering real-time scores, match stats, and news from over 400 leagues. Its core strength is providing lightning-fast live match updates, detailed commentary, and comprehensive pre-match lineups. The app excels with its personalized experience, allowing users to follow favorite teams and players for tailored news and notifications. While powerful for live data and stats, it currently lacks integrated historical video highlights, creating an opportunity to deepen fan engagement. The goal of this project is therefore to enhance the fan experience by providing immediate access to highlights from previous matches between two teams, directly within the FotMob app, reducing reliance on external searches and deepening engagement.

Fans who want to relive key moments or understand the context behind upcoming fixtures often have to leave the app and search external platforms like YouTube, creating a fragmented user experience and reducing in-app engagement.

Design a solution that makes match highlights—particularly from previous meetings between teams—easy to discover and access directly within the match details screen. The goal was to introduce a structured and intuitive highlight browsing experience that fits seamlessly into FotMob’s existing interface while keeping users engaged within the app ecosystem.

The redesigned experience introduces a dedicated Highlights tab that centralizes video content and organizes it into clear sections such as the latest match highlight and previous encounters. This improves discoverability, reduces the need for external searches, and creates a more immersive pre-match experience. The feature also opens opportunities for increased user engagement, longer session durations, and future video-based product enhancements.
